Project Overview

The UrbanGreen team replaced the old lakefront retaining wall with a purpose-built gabion basket wall made with longevity and stability in mind. These works involved the controlled dismantling of the original structure, with environmental measures enforced to avoid the release of sediments, erosion, or contamination, ensure the quality of the lake water and surrounding environment remained, and minimise the disturbance to the local ecosystem.

Challenges & Solutions

While the project was ongoing, the team successfully handled inclement weather and lake situations. Their efforts allowed the project to move forward without causing a significant interruption. The team took great care to protect the environment, installing floating silt controls and other protective measures to prevent sedimentation and keep the water clean.

Project Outcome

A high-quality retaining wall solution was successfully delivered. The project outcome met engineering and environmental objectives while creating what the client wanted.

“This project was about more than just replacing a wall; it was about creating a lasting solution that protects the lakefront while creating an aesthetically pleasing feature for the client.”
