Project Overview

UrbanGreen collaborated with a Raglan homeowner to rejuvenate the hillside landscape and add
functionality to the outdoor areas with the aim of improving her home’s natural aesthetics.
Reinforcing the existing deck allowed the installation of new areas such as an outdoor shower and storage for a kayak, surrounding them with natural plantings.

Challenges & Solutions

Space limitations turned out to be the biggest issue with scarce storage space for the kayak, limited access to the house and the outdoor areas were not secluded. UrbanGreen built a personalised storage box under the deck and used the same materials as the house exterior to create visual continuity.

Access issues were solved by constructing new stone steps and strategically placing steppers around the house. Privacy was enhanced by adding timber screening and strategic planting around the new outdoor shower and spa pool, creating a sense of exclusivity.

Project Outcome

UrbanGreen delivered a well-balanced blend of function and aesthetics, adding practical features while enhancing privacy and natural flow through the section.

“This project was a great example of how creative design can transform limitations into standout features.”
